| Today, I've been working on my stretch project for English class. I decided to make a weblog page of my own. I'm using programs like Photoshop and Dreamweaver to create this page. I've completed a lot in only two days. Here is the site :http://dvsteight.freeyellow.com I'm starting to like doing blogging this way other than xanga. The possibilities are endless if you make your own site. | | |
| One of my biggest pet peeves is people with closed-minds. They are no fun, they can’t have fun unless is something they are very familiar with. For example, two day ago I was in my friend’s room and a girl comes over that I have never meet before. I decided to start a conversation with her. I made some small talk at first but then I decided to ask what kind of music she liked. It seemed like an okay question to ask especially since I had a guitar in my lap. The answer was “Only Heavy Metal, nothing else.” I asked her about some classic bands like Pink Floyd and so on. She said she never heard of them and she reminded me she only listened to Hard Rock. I then made the mistake to ask her where she was from and how big the town was. As I guessed it was a small town in ND somewhere.
I’m not saying all people from small towns have closed-minds. Just that most people need to realize that there is a world outside the town they live in. That there is a world outside that is vastly diverse. There are many things we can learn from other cultures and sub-cultures. Watch out though, keeping an open-mind may cause and intellectual growth. | | |

Cheer Up Emo Kid
Last night I went to my friend’s concert. He is in an Emo band. I have never really listened to much emo. For those of you who don't know what emo is I'll explain: Emo stands for Emotional Rock, so the music to these songs are supposedly emotional. The music sounds in a way like punk but lots slower and depressed, usually the singer sings in a whiney tone. Some of the new popular emo bands are Thursday, New Found Glory, and Brainston. I've got to say this music is not my thing. I still think that my friend’s band is good at what they do, but I can't stand emo. I feel it's going to be a short lived hype around the emo world. Pretty much everything has been done and said in this genre and people are going to sick of depressing music. I still can't say I hate emo entirely. The pioneers of emo, Sunny Day Real Estate, are an excellent band. The lyrics are much more poetic and the music is much more creative and sophisticated. But emo took a bad turn somewhere and landed it's self too much in the Teeny Pop sounding culture as Blink 182 has done to punk.

| Have you heard of Phish? I'd have to say that they are one of the few bands that can create such a good mood with all their songs. Their jam based music, is always positive and energetic. To truly listen to them you must have a music appreciation or just an attitude of letting loose. If you don't believe me...get some songs of theirs and listen to them. Not just for background music but really listen to all the different instruments doing all their own little things to create on great outcome. And visit their site Phish.com!!! | | |
| Is there a rule that says your hair should be longer than your girlfriends? My girlfriend did at one time have longer hair then me. She had dreadlocks for over a year and then decided she didn't want them anymore. She didn't get the ends re-dreaded so she wouldn't have to shave her head. A friend of her helped her take the dreads out. It was a painful process that took over 4 hours. Then she went to a stylist and god it cleaned up. Now her hair is like an inch shorter than mine. I don't want to cut my hair just because it took so long to grow it. I guess it would look a lot better though. | | |
